Seekonk Speedway
July 30, 2005
I attended my first NASCAR race at Seekonk Speedway where I saw the Nascar Modified Series race. It was the most incredible race I've been to. I was lucky enough to get seats near the finish line, so I saw it all. The video games just don't do the Modified Series justice. Also there that day was the Dodge Weekly Racing Series which was exciting in itself. Being a modified race, there was really nobody there that I was familiar with. But on the other hand, Ted Christopher, the points leader at the time of the race, had previously made a start in the NASCAR Cup Series at Loudon, so I knew the name from Kirk Shelmerdine Racing. He was dominant thru most of the race, but was turned by one of the drivers, and fell back to 21st place. He made every effort he could to regain the lead, and I almost thought I was watching Dale Earnhardt in action. He did gain back some positions, but Eric Beers ended up winning the race.
